DWTS Season 9 Cast - Dancing with the Stars 2009

The Dancing with the Stars Cast for Season 9 in 2009 will include a UFC fighter, several Pop songers, and yet another former NFL player. Meet the cast for DWTS Season 9!

This season we'll see R&B singers Brandy and Mya, Rock N' Roll daughter Kelly Osbourne, singer Macy Gracy and Aaron Carter. Each of who has a unique fan base and type of music. Definitely looking forward to Mya in the skimpy outfits as she's one of MC's Hottest Hip Hop Honeys.

Donny Osmond will make his best attempt to outdue sister Marie Osmond on the dancefloor as he joins the cast. So does Entourage actress Debi Mazar, the teen witch and movie star, Ashley Hamilton (ex-hubby of Shannon Doherty), Melissa Joan Hart, model-actress Joanna Krupa, who was on ABC's Superstars, and former Texas Congressman Tom DeLay. Former supermodel Kathy Ireland, and the chairman of "Iron Chef America", Mark Dacascos will also be on the show.

Two sports entries on the 9th season of DWTS will be UFC fighter Chuck Lidell and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin. Irvin follows in the footsteps of Emmit Smith, also a Cowboys teammate, who won the competition, and last season's Warren Sapp. Jason Taylor from the NFL has also competed on the show as has Jerry Rice, the legendary Wide Receiver. Swimmer Natalie Coughlin and snowboarder Louie Vito also join this season's contestants.

Chuck Lidell entrance captured by someone's phone?

Already the most talked about Dancing with the Stars entry is Chuck Lidell. According to an article at MTV.com, Lidell, kickboxer and UFC fighter, Chuck Lidell used DMX's intro from It's Dark and Hell is Hot for his entrance to fights. MTV believes Lidell has an advantage over the other stars since he's lean, mean and basically built to destroy. But can he destroy the competition on the dance floor and woo the judges?

Bonus: Check out Lidell's fellow fighter, Rashad Evans dancing inside the cage to Lidell's DMX music. Maybe a future competitor on DWTS?

Dancing with the Stars Season 7 Cast

kim kardashian dancing with stars

This past Monday the hit ABC television show, "Dancing with the Stars" announced the lineup of celebs for season #7. Amongst those competing this time around:

Dancing with Stars Season 7 cast:

    Lance Bass (N'Sync singer)
    Toni Braxton (R&B singer)
    Brooke Burke (TV Host)
    Rocco DiSpirito (chef)
    Maurice Green (Olympic runner)
    Kim Kardashian (realty TV-star/model)
Cloris Leachman (Mary Tyler Moore show)
    Cody Linley (Hannah Montana actor)
    Ted McGinley (actor)
    Jeffrey Ross (Comedian)
Warren Sapp (NFL Super Bowl winner)
    Misty May-Treanor (Olympic volleyball athlete)

Definitely an intriguing field of dancers for this go-round. Warren Sapp is a defensive NFL player much like last season's Jason Taylor, however Sapp is far from "light", but definitely a gifted athlete. Nonetheless the NFL players have fared well in past seasons, with Taylor, Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice all enjoying successful runs on the show. The male viewers are treated to plenty of eye-candy this season as well with the likes of Kardashian, Braxton and Burke..as well as the returning female dance partners.

Dancing with the Stars starts next month on ABC. The show will have an interesting opening date of September 22, 2008. NBC unveils its hit show "Heroes" for Season 3 the same day.

Singer Mario Continues Dancing

The latest star to be kicked off the hit reality TV show, "Dancing with the Stars" was famed actor, Steve Guttenberg of the Police Academy series. Meanwhile one of the favorites on the show continues to be R&B singer, Mario, even though he seemed to be facing elimination after the judges criticized his latest dancing. In a recent Baltimore Sun blog, Mario revealed he will next be dancing the Paso Doble dance to the legendary Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground". Mario and partner Karina Smirnoff were amongst the final two couples on stage when the announcement came for who was going home this past week.
The singer remarked:

"When you are one of the last two on the stage, you really feel -- really feel it," he said. "Look, if it wasn't for those black ballroom pants I was wearing, I might have had a problem. ... I was so nervous, I might have peed on myself -- and those white pants I had been wearing [in previous weeks] might have showed that."

According to the Baltimore Sun chat Mario had, he is now rededicating himself to this competition, so watch out. Read more here.

Mario does seem to hold the advantage over his fellow competitors. Another favorite may be Miami Dolphin defensive player, Jason Taylor. It seems funny that many people assume NFL players on the show are not going to be good at dancing. Emmit Smith won the competition during his season and Jerry Rice was no slouch either. NFL players develop dexterity, balance and work on their footwork quite a bit, which does seem to give them an edge, even when they are muscular as well. They also are able to be disciplined enough when training to dance.

These advantages didn't help tennis star, Steffi Graf who was promptly eliminated from the show a week ago. But Kristi Yamaguchi, star figure skater and Olympic gold-medalist also seems to have that advantage, as she has done plenty dazzling and dancing on the ice. Don't count out Priscilla Presley yet either as she has that classic performer/entertainer in her lineage. The King may be looking on..

Dancing with the Stars
picks back up next week with more performances and eliminations on ABC. Check your local listings for time and channel.
