What follows is Beyonce Exposed, a biography of the ultra-talented Miss Beyonce Knowles.Beyonce's BackgroundBeyonce was born to Matthew and Tina Knowles in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1981. Her mother is known as a fashion designer and her father a successful salesman. The name "Beyonce" was given to their daughter as a tribute to her grandmother's maiden name. Beyonce has 1 younger sibling as well, a sister named Solange Knowles. Beyonce exposed her musical talents early at around age 7 when she was a soloist in the church choir. From there, Beyonce was a hit as she won 30 different local dance and singing competitions. Beyonce attended the High School for the Permoning and Visual Arts, and later Alief Elsik High School, both in Houston.Beyonce's Musical CareerIt was the four girl R&B quartet, Destiny's Child that really brought Beyonce's talents into the mainstream. They originally consisted of LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland along with LeToya Luckett. They were also called "Girl's Tyme" and entered Star Search. The group lost in the competition, and Beyonce's dad decided to quit his job as a head salesman at Xerox to help them out. Although the family's income was cut in half, Matthew Knowles saw his daughter and her group's potential. In 1996, the group was successfully signed to Columbia Records. After several name changes they were finally called "Destiny's Child". The name has to do with a bible passage from the Book of Isiah. The group's debut came in the form of a song called "Killing Time" on the 1997 Men In Black soundtrack.In 1998, Destiny's Child hit fame with the hit song "No, No, No Part 2" featuring Wyclef Jean. Their debut album, Destiny's Child, was also produced by Wyclef and helped supercharge the group's success. They became one of the most succesful groups of the 2000's with 4 Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, two #1 albums and several Top 10 hit songs. Other songs which achieved notoriety were "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Say My Name", "Jumpin, Jumpin" and "Survivor". Their hit song "Independant Woman Pt. 2" was used on the Charlie's Angels soundtrack. Destiny's Child lost a member or 2 along the way, but continued making hit music. They have four albums in total with the final album so far being "Destiny Fulfilled". It included the hits "Soldier" and "Lose My Breath". Beyonce's 2 groupmates, Michelle and Kelly have each gone on to record solo records as well with some success. Beyonce's Solo CareerBeyonce was unsuccessful with the song "I Got That" in July 2000, but in 2002 she was part of rap star Jay-Z's "03' Bonnie & Clyde". In 03' Beyonce brought forth her debut album "Dangerously in Love" which entered Billboard 200 at #1. It included the smash hit song "Crazy in Love" which also included rapper Jay-Z on the guest rap vocals. To this date, Beyonce's debut album has sold 12 million copies worldwide. Beyonce released the songs "Baby Boy", "Naughty Girl" and "Me, Myself and I" from the album. Beyonce won several awards for her work on the debut album including 5 Grammy Awards in 2004.Her second solo album B'Day featured another track with her boyfriend, rap star Jay-Z, called "Deja Vu". It went on to spawn two other hit singles, "Ring the Alarm" and "Irreplaceable". The album won Beyonce a 2007 Grammy Award for "Best Contemporary R&B Album". Beyonce has not only done several collaborative songs with boyfriend Jay-Z, but also has worked with Shakira and Sean Paul, among other musicians. Beyonce won 2 Golden Globes for her singing and acting in the film. Her co-star, Jennifer Hudson (American Idol fame) went on to win an Oscar award for her role. Beyonce is not just a singer and actress, but also a business savvy entrepreneur. Her mother TIna who is a fashion designer has helped Beyonce with a fashion line known as "House of Dereon". Beyonce also is an advertiser for makeup products and has her own specially designed cell phone. As for personal life, Beyonce is considered shy and humble, and has been romantically linked to rap star Jay-Z for several years.
