New Songs by Nas & Game/Albums to Check
Some thoughts on a few new tracks previewed... "Why You Hate the Game" by The Game featuring Nas and Marsha of Floetry on the hook, produced by Just Blaze sounds solid. The early version is 9 minutes but will be cut down for the album release. Basically the Game discusses his woes with 50 Cent and Dr. Dre/Aftermath and why fans of G Unit might be hating on him, but why they shouldn't because it's all business. Even though the Game continues to talk about some of the same things over and over such as NWA, Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Converse sneakers and low-riders/Dayton's I think his next album will have solid sales and outperform Lloyd Banks' sophomore release "Rotten Apple". Also heard a radio snippet of Nas' title track "Hip Hop is Dead" and was disappointed to hear the "Ina-Goda-Davida" sample was used yet again. His earlier track "Thief's Theme" incorporates the same sample. This track is more up tempo and has Nas discussing the state of hip-hop and threatening to take action against radio station DJ's for murdering hip-hop. You would think a new beat concept could be used here. Will I Am handles production for this track. Even though the main focus here is rap/hip-hop, but I can't help but recommend John Legend's latest CD as well as My Chemical Romance. Both are solid. The latter could album of the year with its strong themes of life, death and what one does in between. John Legend's second release is not as good as his first, but definitely will please fans. Check them out for some great music. Labels: General Rap, Rappers, The Game |
