Ki went to Georgia's Clayton State College and originally was majoring in accounting. Ki realized she wanted to pursue a different degree and transferred to Bauder College in Atlanta for a fashion degree. Ki went to work on WAEC as an on air commentator for a long time running Christian radio program. Ki established a business enterprise called "Destiny's Child" (not to be confused with the R&B group) in 1997 along with 2 partners. The business provided a supportive environment for individuals with developmental difficulties, and by 2001 had 16 clients under their care. Ki Toy Johnson's music video debut came in 2003 when she starred in Outkast's video for "The Way You Move". The song's popularity gave way to Ki being featured in pictorials for King, XXL and Black Men magazines. Ki's movie roles have included The Naked Truth, Beauty Shop and Steppin' Back.
