The latest issue of Details magazine has rapper turned singer turned fashion icon, Kanye West gracing the cover with the words "The Ego has Landed" beneath the star's name. Inside the mag's pages, West discusses everything from his ideal female companion, his thoughts on what others think about his "808's" album, and all about how he created a video game featuring a penis as the hero when he was a kid. You read that right, here's the quoted material: My game was very sexual. The main character was, like, a giant penis. It was like Mario Brothers, but the ghosts were, like, vaginas. Mind you, I'm 12 years old, and this is stuff 30-year-olds are programming. You'd have to draw in and program every little step—it literally took me all night to do a step, 'cause the penis, y'know, had little feet and eyes." ...Aside from all that, West also discusses how his next project is not music but rather fashion, a popular business area which other rappers such as Jay-Z, Pharrell and Outkast have ventured into. West has grand inspirations and a top role model from the industry. From Details Magazine: West has long been a fixture in the front rows in Milan and Paris, but he's both anxious and cocky about his line of sneakers hitting the Paris runway. Anxious because he's the first to admit he's a fledgling designer. And cocky because he couldn't care less how clichéd the idea of a rapper taking over fashion with signature sneakers may seem. "I'm all about clichés now!" he says. "People base their opinions on cliché. There's a reason why they're clichés: 'I was gonna wear a coat today, but it would be so cliché.' How about some pants—if it's not too cliché?" West has had his own clothing line, Pastelle, for three years, and the fashion world has exacted its pound of flesh from him much as he once did from drug dealers eager to make it as producers. "The big payback," he calls it. "I work with different designers and they'll see me coming, saying 'I wanna do this line,' and they're like, 'Cool, give me $150,000 for two weeks' work'! It's like, 'This dude is so eager to get in—he's a millionaire who doesn't know his ass from his face, and we're gonna charge him up the ***** *** for a sketch, for an idea, for a sample.' Every time I did a sample line—it was over a quarter-million." Kanye Leaving Music for Fashion?

Recent reports have surfaced say rapper Kanye West is planning to move to London, England where he will partake in an apprenticeship at a fashion house. Kanye reportedly wants to learn the fashion game so he can make his move into that as his new career. He's been working on his own clothing line, Pastelle, for some time now, but has never officially released it. According to the reports, Ye's applied to several leading fashion firms in Europe including the Louis Vutton headquarters in London. It's doubtful the well-known rap celeb's applications would get turned down. The fashion world typically unites itself with star power and having a name like Kanye West associated with any fashion brand name will only make it "Stronger". According to sfgate.com, Kanye made the following comment: West says, "I'm going to go and take an internship and just do something that's like completely normal 00 and just rap on the weekends or something." In other Kanye news, the rapper's set to appear on Saturday Night Live 12/13/08 to promote his new 808's album, which has received less than stellar reviews. West has also been quoted on his Kanye University blog as saying he will wait some time between releasing singles off the album to let the music sink in more...He also hinted the next single from his album, '808s and Heartbreak', will be either 'Robocop' or 'Paranoid'. Let's start the petition for Kanye to give us another album, this time full of the colorful raps and catchy tracks that made his music great.

3000 Fashion in 2008

Rap Star Andre Benjamin better known as Andre 3000 is considered one of the most sought-after lyricists these days. Almost every verse he drops as a cameo on other albums or remixes turns to gold, giving the rapper much respect, and reason to be considered amongst the discussion of Top 10 emcees in the game right now. Add to that the fact that Andre has been acting as well, with movies such as Four Brothers and Semi-Pro, and an upcoming role in "Battle in Seattle". But now Andre 3000 may become sought after for his clothes as well. He's been featured on the pages of many style/fashion magazines for his different looks. The next natural step? To release a fashion line with his own personal stamp of approval. The rapper recently unveiled his new line of clothing called "Benjamin Bixby" at a party at Barneys New York during Fashion Week. The line is said to be inspired by 1930's Ivy Athletics and according to the NY Times "looked like Ralph Lauren having a Steampunk moment." The name Benjamin Bixby derives from an episode of MTV’s “Punk’d” on which Mr. Benjamin was the victim of an elaborate joke: At the fabricated scene of a car accident, a Maybach salesman demanded his name, implying that Mr. Benjamin was responsible for the damages. Unaware of the setup, he blurted out “Bixby,” the last name of the actor who starred in the television series “The Incredible Hulk.” Later, to create a persona for his fashion line, Mr. Benjamin combined his surname with that of Bill Bixby. The character is a world traveler whose wardrobe includes things like a $995 cotton corduroy blazer, a $350 felted waistcoat and a $95 newsboy cap. At Barneys, those clothes now hang next to lines like Double RL and Engineered Garments, which have a similar bent of Depression Chic.
