Life and Times of S.Carter
It's good to be Jay=Z. The superstar rapper ranks third behind Tiger Woods and Oprah on the "Forbes Top 10 Highest Paid Black Stars" list. According to the report Jay brought in 83 mill between June 06 and 07. Also on the list is Jay's current gal pal, Beyonce Knowles at just 27 million dollars made. What makes the Jigga man so wealthy? Definitely selling millions of albums when people still bought them, then parlaying his skills to things like club ownership and part ownership of the New Jersey Nets. Speaking of record deals, the latest news on Jay's hunt for a label discusses Jay trying to form his own label. From NY Daily News: "Now we hear Jay has been huddling with Reid's rival, Warner Music Group head Lyor Cohen, to talk about starting his own label - tentatively called the Carter Music Group. (Jay's real name is Aaron Carter.)" I still can't decide if the "Aaron" thing is a joke or error, but hopefully Shawn Carter doesn't hear about it. His rap skills are far far superior to the Backstreet Boy's younger brother. Check out the NY Daily news article here. Jay's also rumored to be having some business problems with his latest 40/40 Club out in Vegas. According to rwdmag.com: "since opening its doors it seems 100 employees have either walked out or been sacked. The club has been bombarded with reports of unprofessional conduct, bad work ethics and the repeated use of the āNā word." Full article here. The good news? Jay still does music and tours. He and Mary J Blige have announced an upcoming "Heart of the City Tour", coming to the heart of a city near you. Labels: Beyonce, General Rap, Jay-Z, News, Rappers |
