MTV's Top 10 Hottest MC's Today

First, here's the breakdown of MTV's list:

10. Jim Jones
9. Common
8. 50 Cent
7. Jay-Z
6. Young Jeezy
5. Kanye West
4. Andre 3000
3. Game
2. T.I.
1. Lil Wayne

Let the disagreement start. First off, I don't have Lil Wayne and like a lot of his songs. But having listened to rap for quite a while I can't put him at the 1 spot on that list, especially when I see names on the list more deserving. I'd put Common, Jay-Z or Andre 3000 at the 1 spot before Wayne. In fact, those would be my top 3 if that was the list I was working with.

There's some obvious names missing too. Nas is a definite miss by whoever conjured that list up. His album "Hip Hop Was Dead" was praised by many and his wordplay is always on point. Possibly this list is based on sales or who's working with people on projects now, but I'd also consider adding the names Talib Kweli, Papoose, Lupe Fiasco and maybe Saigon on there. That's the real hotness in hip hop.

My guess is this list is MTV's temperature taking of hip-hop right now, but Jim Jones has not done much lately since "We Fly High".

Seasons Greetings from Jim Jones

Jim Jones, a mystery in the rap world these days. He has a hot song that everyone mimics the "ballin" concept from, from clubbin girls to the New York Giants with their celebrations. To the point Jones even recorded a New York Giants version of the track.

But besides that, battling Jay-Z might be career mistake #1. Career mistake #2, releasing a Christmas album. Sure people will buy it off the fact its got another remix of "We Fly High" for people to check. But when a track is called "Have a Happy Christmas", you start to question the guys street cred, alot.

Here's the tracklist for Jim Jones' "Dipset Christmas" album. Happy Holidays..

1. Dipset X-Mas Time - Jim Jones, , Stack Bundles
2. Have a Happy Christmas - Stack Bundles
3. Wish List - Jim Jones, , Stack Bundles
4. Ballin' on Xmas - Jim Jones, Stack Bundles, J.R. Writer
5. If Everyday Was Xmas - Jim Jones, , , Stack Bundles
6. We Get Money - Max B., , Jim Jones
7. Too High - Max B., , Jim Jones
8. City Boys - Jim Jones, ,
9. We Fly High [Remix] - Jim Jones, T.I., ,
10. Letter to the Game - Max B.

Jim Jones vs Jay-Z

The matchup isn't even a question. Everyone knows who would win the battle, hands down. The fact of the matter is that Jim Jones, Camron, and Dipset crew need a way to hype themselves and get their names into the mix. Best way to do it? Make dis tracks about a legend, the greatest rapper around.

Recently Jay-Z did an interview for Funk Flex on Hot 97 and basically said "Who's Jim Jones to even say anything?" Jay posed the questions: what has he (Jim Jones) done, how many plaques or trophies does he have, how is he lyrically comparable? It's true, Jones doesn't have room to say much. Jay also posed the idea that hip-hop needs a board to approve moves, saying that it should contain legends like KRS and newer guys to approve moves rappers are making against others. Funk Flex speculated that alot of up-and-comers want to go at the top dog, Jay, because they're hungry for the hustle. Jay also mentioned the upcoming Def Jam releases saying it would be Young Jeezy, Ghostface, then Nas for albums coming out in that order.

Jim Jones' latest song/video is "We Fly High". His dis track to Jay-Z is a freestyle entitled "Kingdom Done". Check them out and judge if he has room to even battle or attempt to battle Jay-Z.
