Devyn Simone - Real World Brooklyn Reunion

If you caught the Real World Brooklyn Reunion but haven't watched the latest season of the hit MTV reality show, you were introduced to the beautiful Devyn Simone. As of Thursday AM, Devyn Simone was the hottest search trend on Google, most likely with her newest fans searching for "what is Devyn Simone's phone number" or email address, or measurements. The sexy 21 year old Devyn appeared along with her former roommates Baya Voce, Chet, JD, Katelynn, Sarah, Ryan and Scott on the Brooklyn reunion show Wednesday night. As with other former guests of the Real World house, Devyn seems to have parlayed her appearance into further superstardom. On Devyn's Myspace page you can see various photos of her modeling as well as doing TV hosting gigs and appearing in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The sexy Simone was a star before even joining the reality show's cast, as she was crowned Miss Missouri Teen 2005. Devyn who is originally from Kansas City, Missouri was working in New York as a public relations director for a fashion label called Jovani. This was going on just before the season premiere. According to the final episode of the show, Devyn was going to room with her fellow castmates Scott and Baya Voce in NYC. According to an interview Simone did earlier this year, she never finished college but instead has immersed herself in her career instead. As "The Pitch" puts it, it's like Devyn Simone was "drafted into the entertainment world". The Pitch: It's like you got drafted, but into the entertainment world. DS: Yeah! That's a good way to put it. It's like I got drafted. Who would turn that down? The pros say they want you, you're not going to be like, eh, let me finish. I told my parents that hopefully I won't have to. I mean, I think it's really important and I'd love to have a degree at some point, but just, in my nature, I'd so much rather be in my art than studying it. If you've got a spot, you better get in it and keep going. Now that the Brooklyn Real World Reunion has come and gone, Devyn can officially get her career in full gear. If worst comes to worst she can always choose the career path of former Real World star, Mike Mizanin who now works as a top star with the WWE/ECW as a pro wrestler. Check out more of Devyn Simone at her official Myspace page.

MF Doom's Born Like This

(Born Like This album cover) The metal-masked rap star himself, MF DOOM, is dropping even more lyrical science with his latest album "Born Like This", which drops Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Doom's notorious for shorter lengh tracks with some of the most wicked beat production and off the wall rhymes you'll hear. Doom laces the track "Supervillainz" with the ever-so-recently-popular sing-songy auto-tune. This particular offering from Doom also features the lyrical power of Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan on a familiar beat for "Yesssir!", and Ghostface on a trance inducing melody for "Angelz"...There's a Doom-Ghostface collabo still being talked about and in the works to this day. Believe it or not, Kanye West even gave props to two new Doom tracks over on his blog (which may be partly written by Ye), so Doom's underground style is far from unnoticed. Maybe a Doom-Kanye track or two are forthcoming? ...based on the tracks previewed at MF Doom's Myspace, Doom's brought one of the top rap releases so far in this early 2009. "Born Like This" Tracklist album by MF Doom 1. SUPERVILLAIN INTRO 2. GAZZILLION EAR 3. BALLSKIN 4. YESSIR! (feat. Raekwon) 5. ABSOLUTELY 6. RAP AMBUSH 7. LIGHTWORKS 8. BATTY BOYZ 9. ANGELZ (feat. Ghostface Killah) 10. CELLZ 11. STILL DOPE 12. MICROWAVE MAYO 13. MORE RHYMIN' 14. THAT'S THAT 15. SUPERVILLAINZ 16. BUMPY'S MESSAGE 17. THANK YAH You can pickup a copy of MF Doom's Born Like This at Amazon.com or if your funds are spent bookmark MF Doom's Myspace page so you can listen to it track by track (and most likely keep it on repeat). Many head nodders from the Madvillain himself. Enjoy!

Horror Movies Revisited 2009

(Odette Yustman stars in "The Unborn") It seems there's no original ideas left in Hollywood, because once Horror movies start getting remade, that means they're at the bottom of the barrel. For years horror is what has been innovative and the most original in movie concepts. We've had Freddy in all sorts of cool nightmare scenarios, Jason going to hell, Jason & Freddy facing off, and the Alien taking on the Predator. Maybe those battle-style flicks are the way to go. How bout Leprechaun vs. Chucky? Ok, maybe not. There's remakes in the works for both Freddy and Jason, with their original movies being recreated. The end results will surely be interesting, and it's unknown how longtime fans of these two villains will welcome their new makeovers. It seems strange because you'd expect them to just add another sequel to the 15 or so Freddy or Jason movies. Now instead they get remade just like superheros such as Superman & The Dark Knight. But it's not like we couldn't see this coming. Godzilla got a makeover, as did King Kong not long ago by Peter Jackson. One new movie of interest is "The Unborn" directed by David Goyer. The flick which arrives January 9th stars the ultra-sexy Odette Yustman in what looks like a movie similar to "Omen" meets "The Exorcist" & The Grudge. The plot synopsis says it's about a young woman fighting off the spirit trying to take her over. The spirit is in the form of her unborn twin brother who has somehow aged into a boy. The previews reveal more similarities to The Grudge. Creepy little boy (Damien/Grudge boy) with odd skin complexion and dark house full of weird stuff, it's all in place. It's also got Gary Oldman playing a rabbi, but not sure if that's some sort of ode to Exorcist. Luckily Miss Yustman will make the movie a lot more entertaining as will hip-hop honey Meagan Good. A PG-13 rating will bring in plenty of moviegoers during its debut. And don't forget the latest gimmick which will definitely score big at the Box office on January 16th and beyond. "My Bloody Valentine 3D" features a sinister serial killer wearing a gas mask and using a pick axe to hunt down victims in a mining town. Yep it's a remake, but they added the extra incentive of 3-D to draw audiences to the movie. It's sure to work as Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D did reasonably well despite a bad movie. Expect more 3-D films to roll in once this one proves the formula works no matter what the plot or level of acting. See a preview trailer for The Unborn at YouTube. Notorious Movie & Soundtrack 09'

Coming January 16th, 2009 is the new movie Notorious which is a biopic featuring the story of Christopher "BIG" Wallace's life and death. According to IMDB, there's no rappers playing themselves in this one, it's all actors and actresses taking the roles of Lil' Kim, Lil Cease, Puffy Combs and Suge Knight. Faith Evans and Tupac Shakur are also part of the story, as they should be. Playing the role of Christopher Wallace, The Notorious BIG, will be Jamal Woolard (Brooklyn rapper "Gravy"). Woolard's only other film on his acting resume is 2006's "The Come Up" a documentary featuring various rappers, where Woolard appeared as himself. Woolard has another claim to fame. He was shot in the rear outside the Hot 97 radio station just moments before he went upstairs and gave an interview to Funk Flex. Don't expect any Oscar-type role here, but Woolard definitely has the size and similar look for the part. (Read more about Woolard at Reuters article) As for the Notorious Soundtrack, it features some of BIG's greatest hits, unreleased tracks, remixes and new songs from Bone Thugs N Harmony, Jadakiss and Jay-Z. Jay-Z's Brooklyn Go Hard has already been leaked and in heavy circulation online. The track's produced by Kanye West and features Santogold as well. LOX member and BIG friend, Jadakiss, has an open letter to his deceased friend in "Letter to B.I.G.". The track was originally slated for Jadakiss' "Last Kiss" album but instead included for the movie. There's also a new version of "One More Chance" which features the late BIG's son, CJ, and BIG's widow Faith Evans appears on several tracks as well. Notorious Soundtrack hits stores and internet download services on January 13, just three days ahead of the movie release. Notorious Soundtrack: 1. "Notorious Thugs" (featuring Bone Thugs-N-Harmony) 2. "Hypnotize" 3. "Notorious" 4. "Juicy" 5. "Party & Bullsh--" 6. "Warning" 7. "One More Chance" remix (featuring Faith Evans) 8. "Brooklyn Go Hard" (Jay-Z featuring Santogold) 9. "Letter to B.I.G." (Jadakiss featuring Faith Evans) 10. "Kick in the Door" 11. "What's Beef" 12. "World Is Filled" 13. "One More Chance" (featuring CJ) 14. "The Notorious Theme" (composed by Danny Elfman) 15. "Microphone Murderer" (previously unreleased demo) 16. "Guaranteed Raw" (previously unreleased demo) 17. "Love No Ho" (previously unreleased demo) Amazon.com currently offers pre-order of the Notorious Soundtrack.

Deceased Entertainers of 2008

(Original King of Comedy, Bernie Mac, 10/5/57 - 8/9/08) The past year saw many entertainment legends and stars pass away. Several went before their time, although it's hard to say when anyone's time really is. Notably, Heath Ledger and Bernie Mac passed away, both with continuing careers in entertainment. Ledger, who was just shy of 30, has what many say could win him a posthumous Oscar for his role as "The Joker" in "The Dark Knight". Bernie Mac the legendary comedian ("The Original Kings of Comedy" tour) and actor who appeared in hit films such as Transformers, Bad Santa and the very popular Oceans series was just 51 years of age. The music world lost several talents as well including Bo Diddly, a member of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and Isaac Hayes who did the Shaft theme. In what could be called an eerily strange day of death, former actress, singer and cabaret star, Eartha Kitt, passed away on Christmas day. While she played Catwoman on the old Batman TV series, she may be most famous for her Christmas song "Santa Baby". Add to that the legendary celebrity talent listed below, and 2008 took away some of the world's greatest entertainers and artists. Eva Mendes has The Spirit

(Eva swoops in to seduce The Spirit) Tis' the season for the sexy women of "The Spirit"! The new picture by Frank Miller of Sin City & 300 fame opens in theaters Christmas day 2008. It'll be competing with two juggernaut stars in Brad Pitt (Benjamin Button) & Will Smith (Seven Pounds) on the same day, but the femme fatales just might take this one. During a recent interview on Regis & Kelly, actress Eva Mendes even mentioned she plans to buy herself a ticket to her own movie, Christmas day. Bet that theater does some business.. The Spirit's plot centers around a dead rookie cop, Denny Colt, who comes back from the dead as a masked superhero (played by Gabriel Macht) to fight crime in Central City. His nemesis is the "Octopus" played by Samuel L. Jackson, as well as a bevy of beauties who stand in his path as well. Included in these powerful female adversaries are Eva Mendes as "Sand Saref", Scarlett Johansson as "Silken Floss", and Jamie King as "Lorelei Rox". According to Mendes her character Sand Saref is a tough woman who's had 14 husbands, all who have wound up dead...some by accident, and some not so accidentally. Saref is also the only woman capable of breaking the Spirit's heart. The film will feature a look and feel very similar to Sin City. The gritty black, white and grey with splashes of color here or there and a dramatic on-screen comic book translation unlike any other superhero flicks you've seen. That's not to say this is going to outdo the Dark Knight or Batman by any stretch of the imagination, but between the sultry, seductive female villains and the visual atmosphere of the movie itself, it may be well worth the price of admission. See the trailers for The Spirit here at Apple.com or alternately here at Youtube.com. True HD version of the original trailer at YouTube.

50 Cent's Reality: The Money & The Power

He's got the rap albums, platinum plaques, video games, radio show, special Vitamin water, sneakers, Mike Tyson's former mansion and private helicopter. So what's next for the rap star who has it all? A reality TV show of course! This Thursday marks MTV's premiere episode of 50 Cent's stab (no pun intended) at reality television. The new show called "The Money and the Power" airs Thursday November 6th at 10 PM EST. In the tradition of Trump's "The Apprentice" and Diddy's "I Wanna Work For Diddy", 50 will be running his own contest to test the business savvy and street smarts of contestants. Here's a brief synopsis of the show from MTV's official site: 50 Cent's looking to spread the love by handing over $100,000 of his hard-earned cash to someone he thinks will be the next big business mogul. But how's he gonna find this person? Simple. He's rounding up 14 of the country's most ambitious young entrepreneurs who have a track record of being smart, savvy and successful at playing the game. Let the quest for The Money and the Power begin! While vying for The Money and the Power, the contestants are put through physically and mentally grueling challenges, like running through the streets of Brooklyn chained together and competing in a trash-talking contest. In the end, it comes down to street smarts vs. book smarts. And only one can prevail... Trash talking always comes in handy in the boardroom, as does being chained to people and running through Brooklyn. Those definitely test street smarts and that toughness might translate over to a tough business sense. 50 now follows in the footsteps of Diddy and Trump, both of whom made shows similar to this. As we all know reality television dominates most channels nowadays and also provides a venue for celebrities to market their latest products and endorsements. 50's no different, so the true money and power will be all his, not necessarily the winner of this show. See more about The Money and the Power here at MTV.com

The Next Cell Phone Innovation?

An interesting article at SignOnSanDiego.com discusses the concept of evolving cell phone technology. In the future, it's entirely possible that your cell phone ringtones won't exist or be needed. Instead, cell phones will rub, tickle, scratch and tap you to get your attention. Many people might wonder "Why" we even need that sort of technology. Currently phones can be put on vibrate, but according to one Kevin Li, a UCSD grad student, the other sensations are "noiseless". Li recently presented a paper on the experiments for this concept, titled "Tapping and Rubbing: Exploring New Dimensions of Tactile Feedback with Voice Coil Motors.” Read more about the cellphone technology ideas here. For now I think most people will stick with the hottest ringtones instead of a slap or tickle from their cell phone.

N.E.R.D. vs. Lil' Wayne Reviews

Two huge albums dropped last week with Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter III and N.E.R.D.'s Seeing Sounds. While one is more of an alternative hip hop/rock album, the other is straight hip hop but many are calling these albums the best from both artists. Some have even gone as far as to call Lil Wayne's a classic and one of the best rap albums in years (Don't forget Jay-Z's American Gangster in that convo) . Wayne sold over 400,000 copies of his work on Day 1 and is expected to come close to the million mark. Both albums included catchy and clever tracks. The song "Spaz" has recently become a huge hit for N.E.R.D., while "Lollipop" became a smash for Wayne. 2008 American Idol Finals

This year's American Idol Finals will be a battle of the 2 Davids. Both David Archuletta and David Cook survived and one of the two will become the next musical sensation complete with recording contract. Syesha Mercado was the last female remaining and was sent home Wednesday night. Each of the final 3 contestants still has a great shot at a recording contract, no matter who the final winner might be. In the past, there's even been runner-ups who've outdone the winners (Clay Aiken to mention one). Some even predict that Syesha is heading to Broadway now, similar to the path of an award-winning Dreamgirls star, Jennifer Hudson. So it will be another all-male final battle, and one of the first since the battle of Reuben Studdard vs. Clay Aiken years ago. It's been obvious for a while now that Archuletta has a large female fanbase, which would make him a teen hearthrob ala Justin Timberlake and other younger babyface singers. Cook is a great rocker, so don't expect him to fade away. The battle begins next week... Best of luck to both Davids in this year's American Idol Finals!
